Cytokines are critical factors in tumorigenesis, metastasis, and the therapeutic response. They promote or counteract malignant transformation and growth of cancer cells through cell autonomous effects on cell proliferation, survival and motility. Furthermore, cytokines are key factors in cellular communication in the tumor microenvironment and have major roles in inflammation, angiogenesis, stromagenesis and anti-tumor immunity. This Aegean conference on cytokine signaling in cancer aims to bring together outstanding experts in fundamental and translational cytokine research to foster collaboration and knowledge in understanding cancer etiology, pathogenesis, and response to immunotherapies, along with devising novel cytokine-specific diagnostic approaches and treatment modalities.
Themes/topics that will be focused on are:
Cytokines and intercellular communications Cytokines and senescence One Health: Comparative aspects & other diseases Protumorigenic cytokines Immune-Related Adverse Events (irAEs) Inflammation and cancer Tumor microenvironment Synthetic biology and therapeutic approaches
The Society of Women in Urology (SWIU) 2026 Annual Meeting at the AUA is a professional academic event held in conjunction with the American Urological Association (AUA) Annual Meeting. It brings together urology professionals with a special focus on women in urology, offering sessions on clinical updates, mentoring, research discussions, professional development, and networking opportunities within the broader AUA scientific program.
Inflammation is a fundamental component of the immune response, playing a vital role in defending the body against pathogens and in promoting tissue repair. However, unresolved or chronic inflammation is implicated in the pathogenesis of numerous diseases, including autoimmune disorders, cardiovascular diseases, neurodegenerative diseases, cancer, and the aging process. The Keystone Symposia conference on Inflammation Resolution: Emerging Concepts, Mechanisms and Disease Insights will explore recent advances in inflammation resolution, offering deeper insights into underlying mechanisms and opening new avenues for therapeutic intervention in inflammatory diseases. The program of this conference is highly cross-disciplinary, covering a broad spectrum of mechanisms contributing to inflammation resolution, including signals from dying cells and damaged tissues, the function of sentinel myeloid cells, the role of T cells in immunosuppression and tissue repair, the neural control of inflammation and its resolution, and the impact of aging on these processes.
This meeting was planned in parallel with another Keystone Symposia conference on Tumor Microenvironment: Identifying Drivers of Progression and Resistance. The pairing of these two meetings underscores the intricate link between the tumor microenvironment and the failure to resolve inflammation in cancer, which promotes tumor growth and progression through maladaptation of the very mechanisms meant to restore tissue homeostasis. Insights gained from studying resolution mechanisms are expected to inform strategies to mitigate the detrimental effects of unresolved inflammation on tissue function and overall health. This knowledge offers novel therapeutic targets and interventions to improve clinical outcomes in cancer and other inflammatory conditions. The combined focus on inflammation resolution and tumor microenvironment is poised to drive innovative strategies in combating chronic inflammation and its associated diseases, making these symposia pivotal for researchers and clinicians alike. Through shared keynote and joint scientific sessions, meals and poster sessions, participants will have an opportunity to network and share cross-disciplinary insights, encouraging innovative collaborations towards a deeper understanding of both inflammation and cancer, and the pathways that interconnect them.
The Cell Death GRC is a premier, international scientific conference focused on advancing the frontiers of science through the presentation of cutting-edge and unpublished research, prioritizing time for discussion after each talk and fostering informal interactions among scientists of all career stages. The conference program includes an array of speakers and discussion leaders from institutions and organizations worldwide, concentrating on the latest developments in the field. The conference is five days long and held in a remote location to increase the sense of camaraderie and create scientific communities, with lasting collaborations and friendships. In addition to premier talks, the conference has designated time for poster sessions from individuals of all career stages, and afternoon free time and communal meals allow for informal networking opportunities with leaders in the field.
Cell death is a fundamental biological process essential for maintaining the balance and health of multicellular organisms. It transcends mere cellular demise, representing a sophisticated mechanism that ensures proper development, homeostasis, and defense against diseases. Dysregulation of cell death processes can lead to various pathological conditions, including cancer, psoriasis, neurodegenerative diseases, inflammatory bowel disease, and asthma. Understanding these mechanisms opens avenues for therapeutic interventions. Cell death knowledge is paving the way for novel therapeutic approaches, such as anticancer treatment, therapies against inflammatory diseases or precision medicine. The 2026 Gordon Research Conference (GRC) on Cell Death aims to accelerate discovery, foster collaborative opportunities, and expedite therapeutic interventions in clinical settings by promoting the exchange of unpublished information and ideas. This conference will explore the scientific frontiers of cell death research, with a focus on newly identified molecules, pathways, and mechanisms, alongside strategies for clinical exploitation. A series of sessions and speakers will cover core cell death pathways, emphasizing their impact on inflammation in immune responses and potential therapeutic applications for infection, immunological disorders, neurodegenerative diseases and cancer. This conference aims to enhance dialogue between basic researchers, industry leaders and clinician scientists to deepen the understanding of the translational potential of cell death research.
