On the behalf of the Organizing Committee of ISGCON 2024, we cordially extend a warm invitation to you to participate in the 65th Annual Conference of the Indian Society of Gastroenterology (ISGCON 2024), at Varanasi from 4th December to 7th December 2024.
We expect, approximately, 2000-2500 delegates and a large number of International and National faculty to attend the Conference.
The academic programme is very interactive and covers all salient topics on different aspects of Gastroenterology, Hepatology and GI Endoscopy. The Conference will be a great academic feast.
The first day’s agenda is a Post Graduate Course, especially, designed for our
Post - Graduates colleagues.
Varanasi, the holy city of Lord Shiva, is located on the banks of the holy River Ganges. This city, being the oldest living city of the world, is also considered as the Cultural, Spiritual and Education capital of India.
Saints and visionaries like Tulsidas, Kabirdas, Ravidas lived in Varanasi and contributed to society through their knowledge that is relevant even today.
Lord Budha gave his first sermon at Sarnath, 11 kms away, after his enlightenment at Bodh Gaya.
Varanasi is the city of temples and you may find a temple every 100 meters. The famous temples include Kashi Vishwanath Temple, Sankat Mochan Mandir, Durga Temple, Tulsi Manas Mandir, Tridev Mandir and Vishwanath Temple.
Banaras Hindu University or BHU as it is popularly known, is one of the largest universities in South East Asia. It was founded by legendry Pt. Madan Mohan Malviya Ji in 1916 and has almost all departments and 5 institutes like IIT BHU, IMS BHU, IAS BHU, Management Institute and Institute of Sustainable Development.
Varanasi has now been transformed into a metro city with an much improved international airport, model train stations and smooth roads resulting in good connectivity with all the major cities of the country.
Varanasi is also a major center for different musical “Gharanas”. A long list of well known classical artistes like Pandit Ravi Shanker (Sitar), Pandit Kishan Mehraj (Tabla),
Bharat Ratna Bismillah Khan (Shehnai), Nirmala Devi (Vocal), Channu Lal Mishra
(Vocal), Rajan-Sajan (Vocal) have their origins here and also honed their talents in the narrow alleys of the city.
The city is world famous for its Banarasi sarees, carpets and handicrafts. It is also a city famous for its cuisine and street food like “kachori”, “chaat” and “thandai”.
In early December the weather will be balmy and extremely pleasant and we look forward to welcoming you to Varanasi for a grand academic feast and also for sampling and enjoying the myriad cultural and ethnic pleasures offered by the city.
