IIT JAM 2026 Registration Portal Now Open, Applications Invited at joaps.iitb.ac.in

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay, the organising institute for the Joint Admission Test for Masters (JAM) 2026, has officially opened the registration portal for aspiring postgraduate students. Candidates can now apply for the entrance examination through the official JAM Online Application Processing System (JOAPS) at joaps.iitb.ac.in.

The JAM examination is a key pathway for students seeking admission to M.Sc., Joint M.Sc.–Ph.D., M.Sc.–M.Tech. dual degree, and other postgraduate science programs at premier institutions across India, including the IITs and the Indian Institute of Science (IISc). This year, the JAM score will be used to fill approximately 3,000 seats in 22 IITs for the academic session 2026–27.

The examination will be conducted as a Computer-Based Test (CBT) in two shifts. It is a highly competitive exam, and candidates are advised to complete their applications well before the deadline to avoid any last-minute technical issues.

Eligibility Criteria:

To be eligible for the exam, candidates must hold a bachelor's degree or be in the final year of their undergraduate program. There is no age limit for appearing in the JAM 2026 examination. However, applicants must ensure they meet the specific Minimum Educational Qualifications (MEQs) for the programs they are applying for, as these can vary by discipline and institute.

How to Apply:

Candidates must register on the JOAPS portal by providing their name, email address, and mobile number. Upon successful registration, they will receive an Enrollment ID which, along with a password, will be used to log in and fill out the detailed application form. The application process also requires the submission of a recent photograph, a scanned signature, and category certificates, if applicable. The application fee varies based on gender and category.
