The 74th Annual Conference of the Canadian Society of Microbiologists (CSM 2025) will be held from Tuesday, June 17 till Friday June 20 at Université de Montréal, the largest francophone university of Canada. Université de Montréal is located in Montreal, the metropolis of “La belle province” of Quebec. The Local Organizing Committee of CSM 2025 is honored to host such successful event that will showcase the excellence of the Canadian microbiology community. Our theme for this year’s meeting is “Microbiology for society”; to emphasize how Microbiology has and continue to shape the humanity since millenaries in the different field of life. The Université de Montréal recognizes that it is located on unceded Indigenous territory and wishes to acknowledge those who have been its traditional guardians for time immemorial. It expresses its respect for the contribution of Indigenous peoples to the culture of societies here and around the world.

The keynote opening lecture will be given by Dr Simonetta Gribaldo (Pasteur Institute-Paris), a world-class specialist on evolutionary biology of microbial cells. Every session will open with an invited lecture given by an established or a junior investigator. Additional presenters, including post-doctoral fellows and graduate students, will be selected among the submitted abstracts. Our program includes twelve symposia that covers the three sections of the Canadian Society of Microbiologists: Applied & Environmental Microbiology, Infection and Immunity and Molecular Genetics and Cellular Microbiology.

Welcome to the 15thNational Biennial Conference of Indian Society of Medical Mycologists (ISMM), which will be held at Sri Ramachandra Institute of Higher Education and Research in Chennai, Tamil Nadu on 20th to 23rd of February 2025.

Indian Society of for Medical Mycologists formerly SIHAM (Society of India Human and Animal Mycologists) was created in response to vacuum felt in specialised practitioners and research workers in the field of Medical Mycology in India, a tropical country and hence a hotspot of fungal diseases. Established in 1994, the motto of the society was ‘Spread the news and educate the medical fraternity’.

The first ISMM SIHAM Conference was held in 1996 at Jabalpur. Since then, 13 conferences have been hosted and the Society and Conference have grown simultaneously, attracting scientific minds interested in mycology from the length and breadth of this country. It is now a first class event in the field of clinical mycology in India with over a thousand delegates participating in it. It has also evolved into a forum in which eminent mycologists from India and elsewhere are invited to present their latest research findings and educate the young and budding minds in mycology. There are also opportunities to attend workshops that educate in this niche area.

The topics of ISMM-15 will benefit a wide range of scientific and medical minds like postgraduates, PhD scholars, medical mycologists, microbiologists, and a wide range of clinicians. Amrita Legion for Antimicrobial Resistance Management (ALARM) is a two-day (November 22nd and 23rd, 2024) International Symposium organized by Amrita School of Biotechnology, Amritapuri Campus, which has been recognized by DST, as Centre of Excellence for Antimicrobial Resistance, in conjunction with IIT Kanpur and CDRI Lucknow. “Educate. Advocate. Act Now” – the theme for this year’s World AMR Awareness Week (WAAW) by WHO, aligns perfectly with ALARM 2024. The goal of this conference is to educate as well as facilitate the spread of awareness of the exponential rise in global Antimicrobial Resistance crisis.

The Symposium focuses on critical thematic areas including One Health approach, which integrates human, animal, and environmental health to combat AMR holistically. Topics include AMR in clinical settings, as well as environment and veterinary/agricultural sectors, emphasizing the interconnectivity of these areas.
